This course is for managers, supervisors and investigators who will be using information from computer generated systems. The student will understand the components of crime mapping and how it can be a criminal justice/crime analysis tool. GIS in policing can identify problems, reveal trends, analyze problems, combine data from numerous sources and assess efforts and evaluate programs. You will understand the types of mapping, applications in use for patrol, investigation, courts/corrections, crime prevention and management. You will learn how to facilitate GIS implemention.
