This 4-day (32-hour) training program will be offered as four separate training blocks for police executives. The participant does not have to take the training blocks in any special sequence. The 8-hour blocks are:
7-01 Complaint Intake and Investigation Issues - This course focuses on institutional integrity and the role of the chief. This training block discusses the external complaint intake process as an indicator of public and employee trust in the agency and how to assess the process.
7-02 Racial Profiling - Participants will engage in interactive discussion and case study analysis. The focus will be on practical content coupled with learning activities that will develop the knowledge and skill they need to review, assess, and revise their department's policies and procedures to enhance public trust in police operations.
7-03 Early Identification & Intervention Systems - is a discussion centered training on the triggers, criteria and reasons for an Early Identification and Intervention system. It highlights some existing systems and the barriers and supports involved in getting management and rank and file acceptance.
7-04 Use of Force - This program is designed for Chiefs and/or Senior Managers with the authority and responsibility for overseeing, reviewing, and revising their departments's use of force approaches. The participant will learn about a multifaceted model of inter-related key components to help focus discussion and thinking about use of force issues.
