This introductory training module provides the foundation for understanding and involvement in all aspects of Community Oriented Policing (COP).
Upon successful completion of this module, participants will understand the philosophy, historical significance and theoretical basis of Community Policing. They will be acquainted with the six community groups whose involvement is needed for success of Community Policing and the ten principles on which it is based. They will understand the roles played by members of the community, the police department, and the local community police officer.
Participants also will be trained in the basics of strategic planning as it relates to Community Policing. An interactive CD is available for the module.
